We always see films that are made from books. So why did we make a book from a film?
The consistent thirst for the film prompted the Love Serve Remember Foundation and myself to create this book. We wanted to extend and illuminate the insights revealed by these iconic beings contemplating our greatest mystery, death. This just published, book provides a touchstone to more fully absorb the wisdom of the film, including new images and rare photographs. The book also provides an extensive list of resources for further contemplation.
And if you are contemplating a unique holiday gift perhaps this might be it?!?
You can pre-purchase Dying to Know ($24.99, hardcover) from Collected Works online here or by calling the store to order (505) 988-4226. Signed copies will be available after the event.
We will also be offering a link to stream the film with a purchase of the book. https://dyingtoknowmovie.com

Listen to a new interview with the filmmaker Gay Dillingham on the Richard Eeds show. Gay discusses the process of creating the new book based on her renowned documentary film.
About the Richard Eeds Show:
A unique and rational voice with opinions on a wide variety of subjects, Richard Eeds focuses on the issues impacting Santa Fe and the rest of the globe. Airing weekday afternoons from 1 pm to 5 pm, the show features leaders from the political, business and cultural realm, as well as listener calls, centering on news, politics, education and general topics of interest, especially to Santa Feans.
The bonus footage begins with some heartfelt shenanigans of TIMOTHY LEARY and RAM DASS’s last recorded session together in 1995 – you will get a kick out of this material! Then our journey continues chronologically with Ram Dass after Tim’s death as he reflects on Tim, the times and his own death. This extra footage includes more highlights from our cast of characters: DR. ANDREW WEIL, ROSHI JOAN HALIFAX, JOANNA HARCOURT-SMITH, LAMA TSULTRIM ALLIONE, ZACH LEARY and HUSTON SMITH. If you felt moved and open to the mystery of life and death by the feature film, these extended interviews will expand upon that experience, while putting a smile on your face.
After 2 years of lively community engagement in theaters around the country, Dying to Know: Ram Dass & Timothy Leary is now available for streaming or DVD purchase. The DVD/Blu-ray has 100 minutes of never before seen bonus content, including extra footage of Dr. Andrew Weil and Roshi Joan Halifax, Huston Smith, Lama Tsultrim Allione, Joanna Harcourt Smith, and Zach Leary. I hope you can see it and we will be Dying to Know what you think/feel!

On this episode of the Psychedelia Podcast, we speak to Gay Dillingham: filmmaker, environmentalist and producer. Gay has just released a film 20 years in the making, “Dying to Know”,
a documentary about the relationship between two of the most
influential people in the history of modern psychedelics, Timothy Leary
and Richard Alpert (or Ram Dass). The film brings us to face with the
taboo of death and how the psychedelic experience can help our society
come to terms with mortality. Here, Gay discusses the making of the
film, along with her own encounters with death and tragedy, and how
psychedelics could begin to change the way we view mortality.
